Civica acquires Point Progress (MYEXPENSES)

June 22, 2022

London – June 22nd, 2022: WTA is pleased to announce the acquisition of Point Progress by its client Civica UK Limited.

Civica has strengthened its Human Capital Systems (HCM) offering with the acquisition of  Point Progress, a Cheshire-based provider of expenses management software which supports carbon measurement and reduction. The move will enable Civica, a UK-headquartered global leader in cloud public sector software, to enhance its green offering to its customers around the world.

From flights to car mileage to hotels, Point Progress’ innovative CarbonCalc software provides individual employees with a comprehensive overview of the carbon footprint associated with their business travel. Supporting a range of public bodies across the UK, including the Scottish Parliament and Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, CarbonCalc analyses the carbon footprint of an individual expenses claim and allows each employee to compare the environmental impact of their business travel with others in the organisation. This in turn empowers employees to make smarter, greener choices and reduce their carbon footprint over time.

Wayne Story, Group Chief Executive Officer, Civica

“For public bodies across the UK and around the world, climate change is rapidly becoming the number one issue.

Perfectly complementing our already comprehensive offering in Human Capital Management and directly supporting our Net Zero ambitions, CarbonCalc empowers every employee to do their bit, by making smarter, greener choices and reducing their individual carbon footprint.

With CarbonCalc now part of our already comprehensive offering, we are in a stronger position to help our customers across the public sector to deliver on their Environmental, Social, and Governance ambitions, enabling them to deliver even more for the people and communities they serve”

Richard Coope, Point Progress Managing Director

“As a team, we’re passionate about the difference our software makes, both for our customers and for the planet. We began our journey more than 20 years ago, and over that time, we’ve helped our customers in many ways, from saving time and money, allowing them to concentrate on their core business, and now helping them reduce their carbon footprint.

As part of the Civica Group, we embark on an exciting new chapter, one in which we can continue to help public bodies deal with the challenges they face today – and prepare for those of tomorrow.”

Alan Butterworth, WTA’s partner commented:

“This is another example of our enduring partnership with Civica and is our ninth transaction across their core market practices. We’re delighted to continue to bring great companies to the group and strategically assist with the growth of the Civica business.”
